COA movie Sing Sing introduced by Leslie Lichter

Movie night at the library, 6:30 p.m. Starting early this month because Leslie Lichter will introduce and provide background about our movie. Sing Sing is a 2023 American prison drama based on the real-life Rehabilitation Through the Arts program at Sing Sing Maximum Security Prison. The film centers on a group of incarcerated men involved in the creation of theatrical stage shows through the program. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 97% rating and described the film as a “stirring true story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art, starring an unforgettable ensemble cast of formerly incarcerated actors.” Sing Sing received acclaim from critics and was named one of the top ten films of 2024 by the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute and received Academy Award nominations this past season. Come early for schmoozing and light refreshments.
